Back in the Saddle

Ooh, another “back” post. I see a theme here. Yesterday was “turkey burnoff” day with my triathlon team: a two hour spin/lift/run session designed to burn off the fat from our overindulgence the past couple of days. As soon as I heard about this I was all in, not just because of the turkey factor but because I really need to kick my training back into gear. I’ve been feeling unmotivated lately and I find that the best way to get back on that wagon is with a hard workout.

During the warmup we discussed what we’d eaten for Thanksgiving. After hearing about Dow’s trip to Winchester to get pie on Wednesday, including a detour to the Golden Corral where he ate too much for me to remember, although I do recall hearing, “and then I had a cheeseburger,” I didn’t feel nearly as bad about the huge plate of food I inhaled on Thursday.

The spin/lift/run was 2 hours long, and involved three (I think) sets of biking, lifting weights, and sprinting for half a mile. I enjoyed the workout but today I can’t lift my arms and I feel like someone punched me in the abs. It even hurts to sneeze.

Still, it’s good to feel the burn again.

  3. ahhh, yes! Nothing like a hard workout after a bit of overindulging.

    Speaking of which, I got in a great hilly run with Hubz, but I had better hit the gym today, too.

  4. Turkey burnoff workouts are the best. I figure I ate enough this weekend that I will continue burning it off throughout December 🙂

  5. I am way sore Allison. I ran 12 with Brian and Craig yesterday. LeAnne and Dave ran 9, so they were with us for first 4.5. I’m not running tonight. Those squats and ab work have me feeling it today.
