How to Make a Vlog (and an Origami Storm Trooper)

My 8-year-old just created this amazing one-take vlog on how to make an origami storm trooper. Not only can I NEVER make a video in one take, I can’t do origami either. But what impressed me the most is that there’s no waffling. No umming and ahhing. No five minute introduction with a point nowhere in sight. Note his clear directions, easy-to-follow demonstration, and confident presentation. The whole thing is 2:15. In. Out. Done. I think we can all learn something from this.

Next week: How to Make an Origami Yoda. Unless I take away his iPod.

  1. Absolutely adorable! He is such a great teacher, just like Momma and Dad. His half American, half British accent is the icing on the cake.

  2. Oh my gosh–he is THE cutest! My kids love origami (they’ve done the yoda) and I’ll have to show them this. I love his meshed American/British accent!

  6. He’s adorable. You are so right, it’s a lot harder than he makes it look to get the words out without lots of rambling. *coughs* I have a tendency to be pretty long-winded, which is why we are practicing making 2-3 minute videos. This reminds me of when I was a kid and had a origami set! Impressive stuff!

Thanks, Noelle! 2 – 3 min videos sound great. If I see more than 5 mins on the ticker I am far less inclined to watch.
